Marshall Boys Varsity Water Polo Defeats Cerritos in Double Overtime, 18–17

The Marshall Eagles water polo team earned a hard-fought 18–17 win at Cerritos High School (Cerritos, CA) on Thursday, snapping a tough stretch to secure their second victory of the season.

The game stretched into double overtime before freshman Evan Sambilay delivered the deciding moment. Though he scored just once all night, his goal with four seconds left sealed the dramatic win for the Eagles.

Marshall’s offense was fueled by standout performances from the Slattery brothers. Jack Slattery carried the attack with an incredible 15 goals, three of which came in overtime, while Finn Slattery added five of his own. Malcolm Northrop also chipped in with an early goal in the first period.

The Eagles, now 2–11 on the season, will look to build on the momentum when they travel to Covina on October 8 for a 5:30 p.m. match.
