Meet Blair’s Newest Basketball Coach – Coach Patrick Sullivan!

Blair High School is pleased to announce the return of Blair Varsity Girls Basketball for the upcoming 2021-2022 season. And with that, the school is excited to also announce Coach Lee Patrick Sullivan is the new girls varsity basketball head coach. Coach Sullivan comes to the Vikings with nearly 3 decades of coaching and being a shooting instructor.

Most recently Coach Sullivan was coaching the girls over at San Marino High School.

“I’m very excited to be a part of the Viking family. I’ve been very impressed with the amount of emphasis Blair puts towards both their girls and boys programs,” Sullivan said.

Sullivan takes over the day-to-day operations of the varsity team from Coach Mark Talt. But Coach Talt isn’t going away. He will remain a key part of both the boys and girls teams as he focuses his attention on raising money necessary for the programs. “A successful program needs a lot of attention. New uniforms, shoes, equipment. All that costs money. My goal is to get the two programs all the tools they need to become successful. Now that Coach Sullivan is here, I can concentrate of taking Blair basketball to the next level,” Talt said.

Talt and Sullivan first met on opposite ends of the court during a Rio Hondo League game. “I was impressed with the skill and discipline of the Blair players. I could tell they had been well coached. I’m grateful to Coach Talt for keeping this program alive and look forward to working with him.”

Sullivan understands the demands of being a student athlete, playing on his high school team as well as AAU and in college. Sullivan has coached at all age levels and has a history of developing young players. While coaching in Paw Paw, MI his players won 5 straight district championships and two regionals. For five years he was an instructor at the renowned Dick Baumgartner Shooting Camp in Indiana.

Sullivan has a master’s degree from New York University and is an award-winning journalist. He lives in Pasadena with his wife and 8-year-old daughter.
