Muir Mustangs Charge Into CIF Division 6 Semifinals

The varsity boys baseball team from John Muir High School continued its impressive postseason run with a hard-fought 4-2 victory over Calvary Chapel High School Eagles in the CIF Southern Section Division 6 playoffs on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. The playoff win sent the Mustangs into the Division 6 semifinals, where they were scheduled to host Lakewood High School in another high-stakes postseason matchup.
Muir entered the game carrying momentum from a strong regular season and an opening-round playoff victory over Hillcrest. The Mustangs had built a reputation throughout the season for timely hitting, aggressive baserunning, and steady pitching, helping them compile one of their strongest campaigns in recent years. Statistical leaders for Muir included standout performances from players such as Kahlil Rishwain, who led the team in several offensive categories, while pitcher Luca Cano posted an outstanding earned run average during the season.

Facing a talented Calvary Chapel squad that entered the postseason with more than 20 wins, the Mustangs showed composure and resilience under pressure.
