Notable Alumni Dr. Ladd Thomas ’54 Visits Pasadena High School
Last week Pasadena High School (PHS) was honored to have one of its distinguished alumni visit its campus. Dr. Ladd Thomas ’54 stopped by, at the urging of a friend, to visit and see his picture on PHS’ Notable Alumni wall. Dr. Thomas is an internationally acclaimed organist and university professor. For over 50 years he has been on the faculty of the University of Southern California. Some of his accomplishments include concerts and recitals throughout the United States, Canada, Germany, Austria, France, Poland, Yugoslavia, Italy and Mexico. He has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras including the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl.
In addition, Dr. Thomas has recorded for Metro-Goldwyn Mayer, Paramount, 20th Century Fox, Columbia and Universal Studios, and can be heard on many soundtracks including Star Trek: The Movie, Ghost Story, Witches of Eastwick, Ironweed, Die Hard, Home Alone, Her Alibi and Beaches. It was a great pleasure to meet you and your wife, Cherry Rhodes, and to reminisce about growing up in Pasadena. Ms. Rhodes is herself an accomplished organist and university professor.
