Now and Then: Chandler Football

Now: Chandler School had an amazing Homecoming September 25, winning both football games against Prep! The victories weren’t just about the score though; Chandler Athletics today reflect Co-Founder Tom Chandler’s vision of sports as a way to build strong bodies, strong minds and strong character.

Then: That vision began in 1950, when Mr. Chandler coached the first Chandler football game with 5 players, no gear and a lot of grit. The boys kicked off their school shoes and played barefoot, pulling off a win against a fully outfitted Poly team! By the 1970s (pictured), Chandler teams were gearing up and filling the field with energy and school spirit, laying the foundation for the tradition that continues to shape Chandler students today.
