Pasadena High School: 2012 ‘Tower Banner Student Art Contest’ Winners Announced



Ali Jakubczyk, 12th grade, is one of the 1st place winners of the of the “Tower Banner Student Art Contest” sponsored by the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority. Ali along with the other two winners, Iris Kim from Crescenta Valley High School in Glendale and Nalani Hernandez of Burbank High School will have their work displayed at the Airport. The contest theme this year was “Cleared for Take Off”

All three of these students will have their winning artwork enlarged to 16 feet by 26 feet banners that are hung from the terminal tower. The tower is a prominent location that ensures thousands of travelers will be able to see the artwork. Each student’s artwork take turns being on display starting in September when Iris Kim’s work goes on display. Each banner will be on display for approximately three months.

Artwork from the second- and third-place winners will also be on display in Terminal B. The contest is in it’s 5th year. The next contest is scheduled to begin in September and is open to all Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena unified high school students.
