Pasadena High School Student Rory Hemmings ’21 Joins CBDA All-State Honor Band

Pasadena High School extends a huge congratulations to its student Rory Hemmings ’21 for making the CBDA All-State Honor Band – the highest honor a High School musician can achieve!

Rory was accepted by recorded audition from a total of over 1,500 applicants representing schools from throughout the State of California. He will be a member of the percussion section in the All-State High School Concert Band. Following two days of virtual rehearsals, All-State Honor Band students will present a virtual concert that will be available for public viewing later this spring on CBDA’s web-site (

Rory had this to say about his preparation for this experience: “I had to learn multiple different pieces of musical repertoire on a few different percussion instruments – the most challenging of which were marimba and snare. The marimba piece was extremely technically challenging but after around 50 hours of work, I had gotten it down to near perfection. I have been in band since 7th grade and when I started, I never expected that in just a few short years, I would get to perform alongside the best high school musicians in the state”

Mr. Daniel Adams, the PHS Band Director is extremely proud of Rory’s accomplishment and has full confidence that he will not only represent PHS well, but that Rory’s musicianship, character, and leadership skills will represent what it truly means to be the Pride of Pasadena Band & Color Guard!
