Pasadena High School’s Erica Whiting Wins First Place at 2016 LA County Science Fair



On Saturday, March 19, 2016, the Los Angeles County Office of Education hosted the 2016 Los Angeles County Science Fair at the Pasadena Convention Center. More than 800 students entered this year’s fair. Four Pasadena High School students entered the contest. Erica Whiting, shown in the photograph, is an 11th grade student at PHS. She won a First Place medal for her work in Animal Physiology (Meal Worms Digesting Styrofoam); as well, Erica received an INTEL Talent Search Award.

The night ended with Erica being a Sweepstakes Finalist in the night’s competition. She will compete at the State level of the Science Fair on May 23-24 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Mary Hines is the PHS Science Fair site coordinator who worked with Ms. Karen Jain and the Caltech graduate student Mark Harfourche to oversee the work carried out by our L.A. county Science Fair candidates.
