Pasadena Unified School District Celebrates International Literacy Day

On Monday, September 8, the Pasadena Unified School District joined the global observance of International Literacy Day, a UNESCO initiative established in 1967 to highlight the importance of literacy as a foundation for education, opportunity, and empowerment.

The district celebrated the power of reading, writing, and storytelling in shaping bright futures. Strong literacy skills not only unlock critical thinking and creativity but also pave the way for lifelong learning. Educators see this transformation every day in classrooms, where students discover new worlds through words.

Together, Pasadena Unified is building a community where every student has the tools to succeed—one page at a time.
