PasadenaLEARNs 2021 – Inspiring Innovation Summer Program



PasadenaLEARNs is gearing up to serve PUSD students in grades K-8 with a variety of enriching activities this summer!

Daily Activities include:
• English Language Arts, Math, and DLIP support
• Enrichment Activities
• Health and Fitness
• Social-emotional learning and leadership development

Program Locations:
Hamilton ES: Hamilton, McKinley ES, San Rafael, and Willard
Longfellow ES: Altadena, Longfellow, and Webster
Norma Coombs ES: Don Benito, Field, Norma Coombs, and Sierra Madre ES
Washington ES: Jackson, Madison, and WAES
Blair MS: Blair MS, Eliot, Marshall MS, McKinley MS, Sierra Madre MS, and Washington SMA

Program Dates:
Tuesday, June 8, 2021 – Thursday, July 15. 2021
Program Hours:
ES and MS 8:OOam-2:OOpm
Monday-Friday (tuition-free program; $25 registration fee only)

Extended Morning Program Hours:
7:00-8.00am (additional fee)
Extended Afternoon Program Hours:
2:00-6:00pm (additional fee)

English Language Arts, Math, and DLIP Support
PUSD teachers provide learning acceleration activities in English Language Arts and Math to prepare students for the upcoming school year. Students in the Dual Language Immersion Program have the option to participate in foreign language classes that focus on speaking, reading. and writing skills in place of English Language Arts. Foreign language classes offered based on instructor availability.

Enrichment Activities
Science/STEM: The COVID-19 pandemic has brought many changes to the way we live. We have learned new ways of doing things to make us safer. This summer, students will put their creativity to work designing things to help enrich our lives, make us safer, and to help us work more efficiently.
The Arts: Artistic Self-expression is our way of showcasing what we think and how we feel. Students create artistic works using a variety of mediums such as oil pastels, acrylic paints, recycled materials, etc. They also learn to express themselves through written and spoken word and performing arts.
Health and Fitness: Time for students to get out and get moving with fun, collaborative, social-distanced games and activities! Students will engage in a variety of activities that encourage friendly competition and rigorous exercise while maintaining safety.
Social-Emotional Learning: It’s great to finally be back together again! Now it’s time for students to reconnect and get reacquainted by rebuilding their social and communication skills with peers. Activities promote important skills such as team building. active listening, communication, conflict resolution, valuing self and others, and fostering compassion and empathy.
