Poly Badminton Drives Birdies for Prominent Wins

Poly’s badminton team returns to the court in full force this year after a non-traditional Spring season last year. After opening their season with a tough loss to Arcadia High School on March 2, the team has rebounded and rebounded big. In their last four matches, the team has outscored their opponents 70-14, shutting out league opponents in their last two matches 21-0.

Coach Casey reflected, “We have had a great start winning our first two league matches 21-0 against Azusa and Bassett respectively. Now we have Baldwin Park (Thursday) and Sierra Vista (Friday), and this will be a good test and indicator if we can have a fighting chance of winning league this year.”

When asked about the team’s success, Coach Casey said, “I think what has really helped this year is that we had continuation through COVID, even though the season was very different last year, many of the [opponents] stopped. It’s about both us getting better and other teams struggling to come out of the COVID break.”

Good luck to Poly’s badminton team as they finish out the week before leaving for Spring break!
