Poly Seniors Gives Away $1000 to Senior Dean B. and His Public Art Wall Idea

This past month, a class of Poly seniors did something pretty awesome: They gave away $1,000 to someone in the high school. The City of Angels English class, which is a double-period elective centered around everything LA, was tasked with performing all of the jobs of the Awesome Foundation for a month. The foundation is normally composed of local philanthropists, but this month, all of the outreach, planning, and decision making that goes into giving this grant was done by high schoolers.

Students created and dispensed applications, formed discussion protocols and grading systems, and eventually decided on a recipient. After a passionate and exhaustive dialogue, the class agreed to give the grant to senior Dean B. and his Public Art Wall idea. Dean will be opening his art wall in the coming months, and he is hoping for contributions from every Angeleno possible. Everyone in the class is extremely proud of their accomplishments and excited to see how this project will add to the community.
