Sequoyah School Students Take Social Innovation Program to the Streets

Sequoyah School’s Social Innovation Program (SIP) took to the streets on Friday as teams of students explored Pasadena, engaging with community leaders at local landmarks such as Mijares, the Pasadena Senior Center, and the courthouse, while others participated in a civic memory walk.

Social Innovation Director Joel Murillo led ninth-grade students in a conversation with District Attorney Katie Albracht about courtroom procedures, the differences between misdemeanors and felonies, and the importance of serving on juries. The experience gave students an opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world civic engagement and gain a deeper understanding of how their community and local government operate. Sequoyah School thanked Albracht for hosting its students and sharing her insights.
