Sequoyah’s Summer Read Committee Announces 2021 Sequoyah High School Summer Read

The Summer Read Committee is pleased to announce that Kazuo Ishiguro’s newest novel, Klara and the Sun, has been selected as the 2021 Sequoyah High School Summer Read.

The novel is narrated by a robot “Artificial Friend,” AF Klara, who has been created to befriend “lifted” children. The novel enables us to dig into questions of the boundaries between artificial intelligence technology and humans, and the way in which technological advances shape societal inequities.
