South Pasadena Middle School Students Learn About an Artist’s Approach to Creativity

SPMS students who love art and illustration got a chance to hear from South Pasadena parent, artist, and children’s book illustrator Grady McFerrin in the SPMS Library’s Quiet Room on Wednesday, March 26, 2026.

McFerrin shared his journey as an artist and demonstrated a few of his fun and unique techniques to expand his abilities and challenge his mind, including drawing with an extra-long pen to create distance between himself and the piece he’s creating. He guided students on different ways to approach their art and work. Thank you, Mr. McFerrin, for sharing with our students.
