South Pasadena Middle School Vocal Assembly Features “m-pact” Musicians

Los Angeles-based music group “m-pact” kicked off the month of February with a live performance during an all-school, vocal assembly at South Pasadena Middle School (SPMS).

The six-person group performed original arrangements of songs Don’t You Worry ‘Bout a Thing (Stevie Wonder), Favorite Things (Sound of Music), and Can’t Stop the Feeling (Justin Timberlake). Each tune was performed completely a cappella (only voices), yet it sounded like a whole band was on stage. The group consists of a soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, bass, and vocal percussionist.

Hailed “one of the best pop/jazz vocal groups in the world” by the San Francisco Chronicle, “m-pact” is respected worldwide as a cutting-edge trailblazer in the realm of vocal music. Students in grades 6, 7, and 8 attended the performance. SPMS Choir teacher Wylder Reinman organized the assembly with support from SPMS ASB, SPMS PTA, and the SPMS Music Boosters.
