South Pasadena Unified School District Registration Begins in Mid-February

Schools Welcome Prospective Students for the 2022-2023 Academic Year

Registration to enroll children in South Pasadena elementary schools for the 2022-2023 school year will begin February 16, 2022. Parents/guardians interested in registering their children should first visit their home school to pick up a registration packet and schedule an appointment for an in-person meeting. The meetings will be scheduled between February 28-March 4, 2022 for families who have other children in the District or March 14-18, 2022 for new families. The child’s home school is determined by the attendance area boundaries for each school, and addresses may be verified here.

To improve the likelihood that siblings will attend the same elementary school, siblings of current students will be allowed to register first. When parents/guardians complete their registration meeting during the designated dates with the required paperwork, they are ensured an equal chance of being placed at their home school during the new family lottery, regardless of when the initial meeting takes place. The date and time of registration will only be used to determine school placement (as space permits) for children who register after March 18, 2022.

With the statewide expansion of the transitional kindergarten (TK) program, children who turn five between September 2, 2022 and February 2, 2023 also will be eligible to register for the TK program offered this fall. Eligibility dates for transitional kindergarten this year are for children born between September 2, 2017 and February 2, 2018. During the next four years, eligibility for the local TK program will expand by two months each year. More information about the TK program may be found on the SPUSD website.

School registration is a multi-step process and should be followed as outlined on this link: https://www.spusd.net/apps/news/article/1559036.
