South Pasadena Unified School District Welcomes Tiffany Owens As Visual and Performing Arts Specialist



South Pasadena Unified School District (SPUSD) has hired Tiffany Owens to serve as the part-time Visual and Performing Arts Specialist. Funded by the South Pasadena Educational Foundation (SPEF), this position oversees professional development for arts instructors, collaboration with community arts organizations, and continued efforts to enhance the visual and performing arts course alignment in grades kindergarten through twelve.

“We are so thankful to SPEF for recognizing the value of arts education and professional development and for supporting the District in funding this new position,” said Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services, Christiane Gervais.

Owens is a cross-disciplinary arts and education specialist with over twenty years of work in professional performance, program and learning experience design, direct instruction, and event production. She is a classically trained actor, a veteran educator, an event producer, and an arts advocate.

Owens serves as the mayoral representative and chair of the City of Pasadena Arts and Culture Commission. She has worked as both a teaching artist in Drama and Theatre, and as an academic teacher in English Language Arts for schools in LA County including as chair of the English Department at Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. She is a public speaker and has given art education presentations to various local organizations. Owens’ ongoing professional practice in theatre includes recent appearances in productions with Parson’s Nose Theatre Company, Lineage Dance, Machine Project, and Downtown Repertory Theatre Company.
