South Pasadena Unified’s “Captain Character” Encourages Staff to Engage Their Superpowers

On Tuesday, August 13, 2024 all staff within the South Pasadena Unified School District came together to kickoff the 2024-2025 school year in Anderson Auditorium.
This year’s event included welcoming remarks from Superintendent Geoff Yantz and SPUSD Board President Karissa Adams, and new employee introductions by Principals Blaney, Fong, Zavala, Busick, and Eldred.
The keynote speaker, “Captain Character,” also known as retired Marengo 5th grade teacher Ron Aschieris, presented an energizing and heartwarming speech complimenting the many powers of SPUSD staff and importance of their connection with students. Recognizing that SPUSD employees are not just educators but are mentors, advocates and role models, “Captain Character” encouraged everyone to tap into the passion that drives them.
SPUSD looks forward to welcoming all students back to school on August 14, 2024 and thanks our team of superheroes who make SPUSD schools outstanding.
