Sowing Hope in Altadena: Sequoyah Students Help Bring Poppy Project to Life

Sowing seeds of hope and renewal! Sequoyah School’s 9th grade Social Innovation Program (SIP) teams spent yesterday preparing California poppy seed packets for Angelenos as part of the Great Altadena Poppy Project! Founded by Eaton Fire survivor Rene Amy, this beautiful grassroots effort has sown 250 million poppy seeds across 750+ fire-damaged properties to bring visibility, healing, and joy to the community as it rebuilds. The poppies started blooming in early March, marking a powerful and resilient comeback!

Mark your calendars for April 18! The greater Los Angeles community is invited to spend a spring day taking a scenic drive through Altadena’s blooming poppy fields and supporting the local small businesses that are fighting to stay afloat after the fire.
