SPHS Distance Runner Michael Scarince Sprints to Second Place Finish at State Championship



Huge Tiger cheers for South Pasadena High School (SPHS) junior Michael Scarince on his outstanding second-place finish at the 2026 CIF State Track & Field Championships held at Buchanan High School in Clovis on May 29-30, 2026.

Scarince delivered a remarkable performance in the 3200-meter (2-mile) run, racing to a lifetime best 8:53 and unleashing a powerful closing kick that nearly earned him the state title. His silver-medal finish in California, widely regarded as one of the most competitive high school track and field states in the nation, cements his place among elite distance runners.

Congratulations to Michael on this tremendous achievement and an incredible junior season. The future is bright for Tiger Track & Field!
