SPUSD 2021-2022 Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to South Pasadena Unified School District’s (SPUSD) 2021-2022 Teacher of the Year, Kindergarten teacher Christina Torres from Monterey Hills Elementary School. Ms. Torres was recognized at an awards ceremony held on September 24, 2021 at the Universal City Hilton.

This year, SPUSD recognized outstanding school site teachers of the year for their care, compassion, and ingenuity in both their virtual and in-person classrooms. As the District representative, Ms. Torres joined 56 teachers representing 52 school districts who participated in the 40th Annual Los Angeles County Teachers of the Year competition. This competition is designed to focus public attention on teaching excellence and to honor exemplary dedication and professional commitment.

SPUSD would like to recognize all the 2021-2022 SPUSD Teachers of the Year including:

Arroyo Vista: Sharon Reed, 4th grade
Marengo: Kristen Kato, 2nd grade
Monterey Hills: Christina Torres, Kindergarten
SPMS: Julie Ryu, English & ELD
SPHS: Katy Jaroch, English
