SPUSD: Celebrating Read Across America with Special Guests
To celebrate national Read Across America Week, teachers throughout South Pasadena Unified School District (SPUSD) invited special guest readers into classrooms to help encourage reading among children. For example, on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, Superintendent Geoff Yantz visited Ms. Priya Trachtenberg’s third grade classroom at Monterey Hills Elementary School.
During the full circle moment, Superintendent Yantz recalled hiring Ms. Trachtenberg 25 years ago at El Segundo Unified. He added that fortunately she moved to South Pasadena in 2004 and has been serving SPUSD since that time as a qualified, caring, and motivated teacher who is inspiring and encouraging.
