St. Gregory A. & M. Hovsepian 4th Graders Dive Into the Five Senses with Hands-On Learning

St. Gregory A. & M. Hovsepian School 4th Graders explored the concept of information processing and the five senses through interactive activities. They participated in a taste test challenge, sampling various foods to identify flavors like sweet, salty, sour, umami, and bitter, while learning how taste buds send signals to the brain. They also discussed how sensory organs gather data from the environment and how the brain processes these signals to create a response. To deepen their understanding, students used play dough to build detailed models of their chosen sense, including sensory organs and pathways to the brain. These hands-on activities made learning both engaging and memorable.
