St. Monica Academy’s First Day of School in Montrose

On September 8, St. Monica Academy began its 1st year in Montrose. After renting space from a unitarian church in Pasadena for 14 years, at last SMA has a home of its own in the school building behind Holy Redeemer Church in Montrose. As Holy Redeemer Pastor Fr. Ed Dover said, St. Monica Academy is now on holy ground. At Morning Assembly, the community was able to pray under a large crucifix for the first time.

Morning Assembly included remarks by Headmaster Mrs. Grimm and Board Site Committee Chair Len Golbranson in addition to the introduction of SMA’s 60 new students. Morning Assembly was followed by the Welcome Back Coffee where Parent Guild President Mrs. Friedl spoke about the ways St. Monica Academy has blessed her family and how parents can be more involved in the life of the school.
