Summer Sale

It’s all about the Washingtons and Lincolns.

First and second-grade students in Clairbourn School’s Money Sense class profited in more than one way from their studies this summer.

For five weeks the class learned to distinguish monetary denominations and the value of money. They then put into practice what they learned by organizing, promoting, and running a lemonade sale for the larger student body attending the Summer Advantage Program.

During lunchtime, the crowd was invited to buy lemonade, Skittles, or ring pops. Their booth was well attended, and on some of the days, the students actually sold out of product.

After counting up their proceeds and deducting expenses, each student earned $15 apiece and a donation in the amount of $97 was made to the Pasadena Humane Society.

Clairbourn School is at 8400 Huntington Dr., San Gabriel. (626) 286-3108. www.clairbourn.org.
