VADA Guest Speaker Series Present Johnny Perez, Artist, Photographer, Storyteller, Teacher

Visual Arts and Design Academy (VADA) recently held its Guest Speaker Series featuring Johnny Perez, Artist, Photography, Storyteller, and Teacher.

“Johnny Pérez is driven by a desire to create connections. As a high school dropout and incarcerated teen, he knows all too well what it is to not matter and lack the confidence to question it. His practice operates in a liminal territory between social practice, education, and public policy. It’s an art practice of healing through affirming his own existence by validating the lives of those who go unseen through interactions and building community”

VADA is grateful to Johnny Perez for sharing his story and his work with VADA seniors. Check out his powerful works on  Instagram and on Twitter.

VADA would also like to thank its wonderful business partners Light Bringer Project for assisting them to arrange with inspiring series of Speakers. For more information about Light Bringer Project visit https://www.lightbringerproject.org/.

The Visual Arts and Design Academy (VADA) in Creative Arts Media and Design (CAMAD) at Pasadena High School is a studio arts focused program within PUSD. Students explore traditional and digital media cross curricular integrated projects and daily studio practice.
