SenLinYu, whose dark fantasy debut novel “Alchemised” hit No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list, will discuss her book at Pasadena Presbyterian Church on Feb. 11—but fans hoping for autographs or photos will need to adjust their expectations.

Vroman’s Bookstore, hosting the 7 p.m. event, has highlighted an unusual policy: “BOOKS WILL BE PRESIGNED. THERE WILL BE NO SIGNING OR PHOTO OP FOLLOWING THE DISCUSSION.”

Attendees will receive pre-signed copies of “Alchemised” at check-in.

Tickets, priced between $40 and $47.50, include the signed book and “a printed, double-sided B&W map.”

“Alchemised,” published by Del Rey, tells the story of Helena Marino, a former alchemist imprisoned in post-war Paladia.

“Once a promising alchemist, Helena Marino is now a prisoner—of war and of her own mind,” the publisher’s description states.

“Her Resistance friends and allies have been brutally murdered, her abilities suppressed, and the world she knew destroyed.”

Helena suffers from inexplicable memory loss.

“According to Resistance records, she was a healer of little importance within their ranks,” the description explains.

“But Helena has inexplicable memory loss of the months leading up to her capture, making her enemies wonder: Is she truly as insignificant as she appears, or are her lost memories hiding some vital piece of the Resistance’s final gambit?”

To extract the truth, Helena is sent to the High Reeve, “one of the most powerful and ruthless necromancers in this new world.”

The book has earned recognition as a She Reads “Best Book of the Year.”

“Seating is general admission and doors open at 6 p.m.,” according to Vroman’s.
