With a bit of a facelift, (new bumpers, grille design and wheel options), and the latest infotainment system the Cadillac XT5, is raring to go and hit the road. A midsized luxury SUV, it offers all the features you look to a Cadillac for; upscale interior, quiet ride and luxury accommodations.

Looking for something more sporty? There’s also a Sport trim that has sport-tuned suspension and steering for a more engaging ride. This is the model I test drove and the focus of this review.

The XT5 is available in three trims: Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport.

Setting the Sport apart from the other two trims is a more aggressive appearance and the aforementioned sport-tuned suspension and steering, the Sport model includes blind-spot monitoring and rear traffic alert with leather upholstery, hands-free liftgate, and automatic wipers.

There are also a couple of optional features available, a 14-speaker Bose stereo, navigation, ventilated front seats, and more. Adaptive cruise control and reverse automatic braking are available, along with a surround-view camera system, a rearview camera mirror, and a night-vision camera (all included on my test model).

The Sport model also get the more powerful V6 engine, producing 310 horses and 271 lb-feet of torque. The engine is paired with a 9-speed automatic, making gear changes effortlessly while allowing the V6 to speed along. Expect to get 18/city, 25/highway, and 20/combined mpg.

With the optional Platinum package, my test model had upgraded semi aniline leather seating throughout the cabin. It also had a soft-touch sueded headliner and some cool mood lighting in the cabin. Seating is luxurious as is expected of a Cadillac.

The XT5 isn’t all fluff and puff, it has a practical side as well with a spacious cargo area and easy to lower rear seats for additional storage. There’s also plenty of small cubbies throughout the cabin for smaller item storage.

The V6 engine is speedy, no doubt about it, but the interior remains buffered from most engine and road noise. The XT5 is sure-footed on twisty roads while delivering a comfortable ride.
