As the newest model to the Genesis lineup, the GV70 is a diminutive version of the midsize crossover GV80. But not to be overshadowed, the GV70 has a roomy interior with plenty of cargo space, comfy seating and a smooth ride.

For performance the GV70 takes its cues from the G70 sports sedan but with a higher vantage point and plenty of cargo room. That equates to loads of driving fun with quick acceleration and sporty handling.

Available in two trim levels: 2.5T and 3.5T Sport, this review will focus on the 3.5T Sport with the Prestige package.

Special goodies highlight the Prestige package including: heated second-row seats, 21-inch wheels, three-zone climate control, head-up display, electronic limited-slip differential, manual rear side sunshades, 12/3-inch digital gauge cluster with 3D graphics, and acoustic rear door glass.

Making the GV70 3.5T go is a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6, producing 375 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It’s got go! Expect to get 19/city, 25/highway, and 21/combined MPG.

With leather seating that’s heated and ventilated in the front, the interior crushes it. Although backseat passengers will have to content themselves with no heating or cooling, the seats are well-bolstered and have a nice amount of recline. There’s also a good amount of legroom back there.

The 14.5-inch touchscreen may be short but it is wide and very easy to use. My only problem was that it was a bit of a reach for me and my short arms. The touchscreen is also operated by a knob which both rotates and is touch-sensitive.

In the rear is 28.9 cubic feet of storage but more can be had with a pull of a lever and the backseats will fold flat. The trunk will also open automatically when you stand near it and it offers a large opening.

A smooth-shifting automatic transmission puts the V6 through its paces. The turbo gives power when asked and makes for an all-around fun drive. Going through turns the GV70 is sure-footed and there’s no slide or feeling of indecision. The cabin is very quiet with dual-pane windows keeping out much of the wind and road noise.
