A succession of Pasadena seniors will take the stage at Robinson Park Recreation Center on Thursday afternoon for what the city calls its 28th annual Senior Talent Showcase, an event that turns the community center auditorium into something part variety show, part neighborhood celebration. Singing, dancing, instrumental performances, recitations, and acting all share the program, which is sponsored by the Pasadena/Altadena Chapter of The Links Incorporated.

Lunch will be served alongside the performances, and seating is limited to 100 attendees on a first-come basis. The Links, founded in 1946, is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of women of African descent, with chapters across the United States, the Bahamas, and the United Kingdom dedicated to civic, educational, and cultural enrichment work.

The City of Pasadena’s Parks and Recreation Department organizes the showcase. Past years have drawn senior performers across genres, with a focus on giving older residents a public stage and an audience that arrives expressly to applaud. The annual event is one of several programs run out of Robinson Park, the recreation center named for Jackie Robinson and Mack Robinson and located in the heart of northwest Pasadena.

Robinson Park has been the site of multiple community programs in recent years, including the launch of a new electric vehicle charging depot and the Pasadena Senior Games, which run through June 29.

Senior Talent Showcase will run on Thursday, May 14 from noon to 2 p.m. Robinson Park Recreation Center Auditorium, 1081 N. Fair Oaks Avenue, Pasadena. For more information or to register, call (626) 744-7300 or email parksandrec@cityofpasadena.net. Admission is free. Seating is limited to 100.
