A sensory playground unfolds at Kidspace Children’s Museum in Pasadena, where visitors are encouraged to touch, smell, and listen their way through a kaleidoscopic maze of color and curiosity. Wired for Wonder: A Multisensory Maze, opening on February 14, promises a fully immersive experience where art and science intersect in unexpected ways.

For children and adults alike, the museum’s 3.5-acre campus transforms into a living laboratory, offering hands-on explorations that challenge perception and awaken the senses. Guests can scale the Climb-Across Rock Wall, experiment with forces of nature in the Physics Forest, and navigate the color-changing maze.

The Smell-o-Phone booth offers an olfactory twist, while interactive installations invite participants to ‘see’ with their hands, deepening their understanding of how the brain processes sensory input.

Presented in collaboration with Getty’s PST ART: Art & Science Collide, Wired for Wonder is one of more than 70 exhibitions in the landmark regional series that explores the intricate relationships between artistic expression and scientific discovery. Featuring new works by acclaimed artists such as Suchitra Mattai, Miguel Osuna, d. Sabela Grimes, Alison Saar, and the USC Immersive Media Lab, the exhibition engages audiences through kinetic sculptures, multimedia installations, and spatial illusions designed to challenge conventional modes of perception.

“The intersection of art and science creates a dynamic space for discovery,” said a representative from Kidspace. “Through play, we invite visitors to engage with their senses in ways that spark both wonder and deeper understanding.”

While daytime programming encourages families to engage in multi-sensory learning, special evening hours on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays cater to an adult audience seeking a more intimate exploration of the installations. Whether wandering through Motorefisico’s Way Through or experiencing the infinite reflections of USC’s Infinity Room, visitors will find themselves enveloped in an ever-shifting landscape of sight, sound, and texture.

With its emphasis on sensory integration, Wired for Wonder underscores the importance of experiential learning, aligning with Kidspace’s mission to foster curiosity-driven discovery. The event also situates Pasadena at the forefront of cultural innovation, strengthening its reputation as a hub where education, technology, and the arts converge.
