A Noise Within Presents ‘An Iliad’ As Part of Theater’s 30th Anniversary Season

A Noise Within continues to entertain Pasadena-area residents with Lisa Peterson and Denis O’Hare’s “An Iliad,” based on Homer’s classic monologue “The Iliad,” translated by Robert Fagles, at 8 p.m. Friday as part of the theater’s 2021-22 30th Anniversary season.

“An Iliad” is the timeless story of rage and conflict that touches mainly on the Trojan War and the battles and events during the weeks of quarreling between King Agamemnon and the warrior Achilles.

In Peterson and O’Hare’s version, the lone witness of an ancient and ravaged Trojan battlefield weaves a tale of tragedy and triumph, with an enduring love for every victim of war. The Poet, an eternal being tasked with a passionate examination of deadly conflict, grapples with grief and the dualities of victory and loss, power and fragility, heroism and hubris, in an unforgettable modern take on Homer’s classic.

A Noise Within presented a filmed production of “An Iliad” last spring and now welcomes you in person for a not-to-be-missed live performance directed by Julia Rodriguez-Elliott, one of the producing artistic directors of A Noise Within. Geoff, her husband, is the other producing director.
