A Noise Within’s ‘Symposia Within’ Delves Into Metamorphoses

Published on May 10, 2022

A Noise Within (ANW) in Pasadena presents a discussion of “Metamorphoses,” one of ANW’s featured plays in the theater’s 2021-2022 season, on “Symposia Within: Metamorphoses,” before Wednesday night’s preview, May 11, at 6:45 p.m.

Symposia Within engages the audience in a discussion of the play with a noted scholar.

In “Metamorphoses,” written by Tony Award-winner Mary Zimmerman based on the Myths of Ovid, primal storytelling and modern sensibility collide in a sensual re-envisioning of Greek myths, as gods and mortals alike endure love, loss, and transformation – all while immersed in a pool of water on stage.

Swirling with passion, Zimmerman, author of A Noise Within’s award-winning “Argonautika,” creates this masterpiece that mesmerizes with tales of Midas, Orpheus, Aphrodite, and more in a whimsical and heartbreaking meditation on the joys and perils of being human.

“Metamorphoses,” directed by ANW’s Julia Rodriguez-Elliott, premieres on Saturday, May 14, with previews on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, May 11 to 13. The play runs through June 5.
