AbilityFirst Marks 100 Years with Food & Wine Festival Honoring Community Leaders

Hosted by actor and advocate Tal Anderson, bringing star power and a bold voice for inclusion to this milestone celebration

AbilityFirst will celebrate a century of impact while honoring four standout community leaders at its 52nd Annual Food & Wine Festival, taking place Sunday, June 7 from 5:00–8:00 p.m. at the Urquhart Residence in South Pasadena.

This year’s honorees include culinary pioneers the Frank Family, Comerica Bank a division of Fifth Third Bank, N.A., the Rotary Club of Los Angeles (LA5), and Supervisor Kathryn Barger; each recognized for their lasting contributions to expanding opportunity and inclusion for people with disabilities. The evening will be hosted by storyteller and advocate Tal Anderson, who uses her platform as an actor to champion inclusion and authentic representation in Hollywood.

As AbilityFirst celebrates 100 years of service, the event highlights its legacy and future while uniting civic leaders, philanthropists, and community partners for an evening of exceptional cuisine, fine wine, and purpose-driven giving.

“What began as a small community effort has grown into an organization that changes thousands of lives each year,” said Sergio Rizzo-Fontanesi, President and CEO of AbilityFirst. “As we celebrate our centennial, we are especially proud to recognize the extraordinary partners and leaders whose support has helped make our mission possible and continue to expand opportunities for the people and families we serve.”

Honoring Legacy and Leadership

The Frank Family is being recognized for a legacy deeply rooted in AbilityFirst’s founding. Lawrence L. Frank, co-founder of Lawry’s Restaurants, helped establish the organization a century ago; a tradition of philanthropy the family continues today.

Comerica Bank is honored for more than 15 years of partnership supporting employment, education, and community connection for people with disabilities.

The Rotary Club of Los Angeles (LA5) is recognized for its longstanding civic leadership and role in advancing charitable initiatives locally and globally including early support tied to AbilityFirst’s founding.

Supervisor Kathryn Barger is honored for her leadership and advocacy for vulnerable populations, including people with disabilities throughout Los Angeles County, and her longstanding connection to AbilityFirst.
