Sierra Madre’s summer soundtrack continues this weekend as Acme Time Machine takes the stage at the Memorial Park Bandshell. The band performs Sunday, June 28, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the latest installment of the city’s free Summer Concerts in the Park series.

Presented by the Sierra Madre Community Services Department, the series brings live music to the bandshell on Sunday evenings throughout the summer, running this year from early June through Aug. 9. The lineup spans rock tributes, oldies acts and local ensembles, and Acme Time Machine’s stop is sponsored by The Kensington.

The department invites guests to make an evening of it. Picnic baskets, lawn chairs, blankets and dancing shoes are all encouraged, and the concerts are open to all ages in a relaxed outdoor setting next to City Hall. Seating is on the green, and organizers note that alcohol is prohibited.

The free series has become a fixture of warm-weather life in the foothill town, drawing families and longtime residents to the same patch of lawn week after week. Later dates include a Taylor Swift tribute by The New Romantics on July 12 and a Beatles tribute, 4 Lads from Liverpool, on Aug. 2.

For anyone looking to trade a screen for an evening of live music, the bandshell offers an easy, no-cost answer: bring a blanket, claim a spot on the grass and let the band do the rest.

Sierra Madre Summer Concerts in the Park, featuring Acme Time Machine, will run on Sunday, June 28 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Memorial Park Bandshell, 222 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre. For more information, call (626) 355-5278 or visit sierramadreca.gov. Admission is free.
