Actress and UNICEF Ambassador Aria Mia Loberti will bring her pioneering vision for disability rights to Pasadena, reading from and signing her debut picture book “I Am Ingrid: The Adventures of the World’s Greatest Guide Dog” at Vroman’s Bookstore on Wednesday, November 5, from 11 a.m. to noon. The event features the real Ingrid—the history-making guide dog who walked the Golden Globes red carpet—offering children and families an opportunity to engage with themes of independence, empathy, and teamwork.
Loberti made television history playing Marie-Laure Leblanc in Netflix’s acclaimed “All the Light We Cannot See”—the first major Hollywood production to cast a blind actor in such a role. “This is the first time in history we’ve had authentic representation for a character in a film of this size,” Loberti stated on the Golden Globes red carpet.
“I Am Ingrid,” illustrated by Vivienne To and published by Scholastic on October 21, tells Ingrid’s journey from puppy to “the world’s greatest guide dog,” balancing humor with factual information about guide dog training and the spectrum of vision. Loberti challenges prevailing narratives by depicting service dogs as enabling already-complete individuals.
Through her advocacy and educational outreach, Loberti seeks to normalize service dog partnerships. A Fulbright Scholar with a master’s degree from Royal Holloway, Loberti also serves as UNICEF Ambassador for climate change and education rights.
