The free event, scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m., will take place on the Oxley Street side of the Library Park, according to library officials.
Presented by Talewise, a recurring partner of the library, the show combines the magic of stories with the wonders of science to engage young audiences in STEM concepts.
In an interview, Cathy Billings, Library Director, described the event as a treasure hunt through the jungle, where audience participation drives the narrative and facilitates scientific exploration.
“Attendees can expect to be called upon to conduct different experiments and to help propel the story forward in doing so,” Billings said.
The library aims to spark interest in STEM subjects through this interactive approach, encouraging attendees to explore related materials in its collection after the event.
“This event offers our patrons a hands-on STEM learning experience that we hope will encourage readers to checkout related materials from the library,” Billings explained.
While no future STEM events are currently scheduled, Billings noted that the library is actively seeking STEM-related materials to add to its Children and Teen sections.
Wonderful Wednesday’s “Adventures of the Lost Treasure” event is part of the library’s Summer Reading Program, with organizers specifically including a STEM event to enhance the program’s educational value.
