All Saints Church 132 North Euclid Avenue will offer a Lenten study group focused on Dante Alighieri’s “Divine Comedy,” meeting Thursday evenings via Zoom throughout March and April 2025. The seven-session series, titled “From Dark Wood to Mystic Rose: A Lenten Journey with Dante Alighieri,” will be facilitated by Wendy Furman-Adams.
The program will run on March 6, 13, 20, 27, April 3, 10, and 24, with sessions beginning at 6:00 p.m. Participants will explore themes from Dante’s famous theological poem, which traces the soul’s journey through Hell, Purgatory and Paradise.
According to the program description, the study will examine how Dante’s work culminates in the poet’s mystical experience. The announcement quotes passages from the third canticle of the Divine Comedy that frame the spiritual journey: “The glory of Him who moves all things rays forth through all the universe, and is reflected from each thing in proportion to its worth.”
The description notes that by the conclusion of his pilgrimage, Dante “is able to gaze at the luminous Reality of God’s eternal and universal love.” The text also references how this divine vision is “visibly expressed (as Paul says in Colossians) in the human face of the cosmic Christ.”
