Published on Feb 2, 2023

Business of the Year Altadena Ale & Wine House and Citizen of the Year Silvera Grant

The Altadena Chamber of Commerce honors Silvera Grant as Citizen of the Year, and Altadena Ale and Wine House as Business of the Year, during the Annual Awards and Installation Dinner on Friday, Feb. 3, starting at 6 p.m. A new board and new officers will also be sworn in.

The event will be held at Altadena Town and Country Club, at 2290 Country Club Drive in Altadena.

Citizen of the Year recipient Silvera Grant has been the Altadena Community Garden’s “guardian” for over a decade. As President of the Altadena Community Garden, he has volunteered over 4,000 hours of his time to make the gardens and the community both stronger and healthier. This year, Grant received the U.S. President’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Volunteerism from President Biden.

The Business of the Year Award recipient is the Altadena Ale and Wine House, owned by Gail and Judah Casburn. The business exemplifies the spirit of Altadena as a place where you can enjoy intellectual conversation and the sense of community as well as camaraderie that defines the best traditions of a neighborhood watering hole.

During the COVID pandemic, Altadena Ale and Wine House jumped in to distribute meal kits twice a week to ex-and current workers in the restaurant industry who had fallen on hard times.
