The Altadena Library Foundation’s annual “Taste of Dena” event returns Saturday with a transformed mission: honoring local heroes who lost their homes while serving others during a recent fire, and welcoming displaced residents back to their community.
“Our event is so different this year. The goal is to honor two local heroes who lost homes while continuing to serve others and inviting displaced Altadenans to return for a night,” said Mark Mariscal, President of the Altadena Library Foundation.
The community gathering, “Taste of Dena: The Next Chapter,” takes place Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 6-9 p.m. at 600 E. Mariposa Street in Altadena. Tickets cost $28.52.
Set at Altadena’s library, the event features interactive art installations, unexpected performances, and a “whimsical secret garden” designed to spark conversation and imagination. Attendees are encouraged to wear Altadena-themed items to show hometown pride.
The foundation describes the evening as an opportunity for neighbors to “connect, share stories, and celebrate all that makes Altadena community so extraordinary” as residents work to “turn the page and start a new chapter—one filled with creativity, camaraderie, and joy.”
The event represents the community’s resilience and determination to rebuild connections after the fire’s impact on local families and heroes who continued serving others despite personal losses.
