Altadena Music Theatre gives the final performance of “Little Shop of Horrors” at 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, at Mountain View Mausoleum, 2300 N. Marengo Ave.
The night closes a season that ran from Aug. 6, staged after the Eaton Fire displaced the company from the Charles Farnsworth Amphitheater. The amphitheater had been its home since 2022. For 2026 the company says it returned to a temporary outdoor venue with custom-built staging and seating. Board members, performers, designers, technicians, volunteers and supporters built the theater, which stands a little more than a mile from where the amphitheater stood.
Sarah Azcarate, the company’s founder and producing artistic director, directs. “What has emerged is more than a performance venue,” Azcarate said of the volunteer-built theater.
Chris Wade is music director and Noel Bajandas is choreographer. The musical carries book and lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken, and follows a florist’s assistant whose life changes after he acquires a plant that craves blood. Ruby Lewis plays Audrey, James Byous plays Seymour, and Lord Kraven plays Audrey II, a 10-foot-tall puppet he voices and accompanies.
The company says the production contains strobe lighting effects, theatrical haze, simulated gunfire and depictions of violence.
The company says street parking is available around the park perimeter and through the neighborhood, and that parking on Marengo Avenue is permitted for the length of a performance. It asks audiences to be courteous to neighbors. Audiences may bring a picnic or dinner. Outside alcohol is not allowed under the company’s license, and it sells beer and wine to attendees 21 and older alongside a concessions table. Only service animals are permitted inside the theater. The company welcomes all ages and asks that everyone in a party be able to sit quietly through the performance.
The season opened with “Grease,” which ran Aug. 6 through 16. The company has also staged “Hair” in 2022, “Cabaret” in 2023 and “Guys and Dolls” in 2024, and it runs a kids summer camp and an after-school program. Warner Bros. Discovery sponsors the 2026 season.
The stage has no roof, and the company publishes a ticket and refund policy covering weather at https://www.altadenamusictheatre.com/ticket-policy. If a performance is canceled before one hour of playing time has elapsed, including intermissions, the ticket serves as a rain check. A rain check may be redeemed for a ticket of the same value at any remaining performance, for a full refund, or donated back to the company, and must be redeemed by Sept. 13 by email. Single tickets start at $40 and are sold through OvationTix, linked from the company’s site.
