The “Back in the Day” festival, hosted by Pasadena-based nonprofit Art Crush LA, will feature a classic and custom car show, vintage collectibles, fashion vendors, art exhibitions, music, food, tattoo and barber services, and community activities.
According to the event’s official website, the majority of proceeds will go toward Altadena residents affected by the fire, including owners of vintage vehicles destroyed in the January blaze.
Admission is free.
The venue, 409 Woodbury, was converted into a community resource center following the fire. Alta Design Works and the Altadena Coalition led the transformation. The site now hosts rebuilding workshops, wellness programs, and cultural events. Alta Design Works also co-hosts the festival.
Co-hosting organizations include Not Ev, a community documentation project founded by Pasadena resident Dave Stone; Alta Design Works; and the Altadena Coalition, led by Freddy Sayegh. He lost his home in the fire and helped establish the coalition to support recovery efforts.
Stone’s @not_ev_altadena Instagram account has documented over 500 fire survivor stories and helped organize the weekly Altadena Cars & Coffee meetup, which will be featured at the festival. The name “Not EV” refers to the EPA’s post-fire vehicle tagging practice distinguishing gas-powered cars from electric ones.
Art Crush LA has previously awarded scholarships to John Muir High School students and hosted community events.
