Mississippi country trio Chapel Hart earned resounding applause Tuesday as America’s Got Talent’s Season 17 closed with them coming out as one of 11 acts to fight for the next two spots in the NBC reality competition show’s Finale.
They were the last performers Tuesday and admitted it was nerve-racking going last with their original “The Girls Are Back in Town.”
“Our nerves were through the roof,” member Devynn Hart told People magazine backstage.
Judge Howie Mandell called Tuesday “the most competitive episode I’ve ever seen.”
On July 19, Chapel Hart clinched a collective Golden Buzzer from all the judges, plus host Terry Crews, after performing an original song written as an ode to their musical hero Dolly Parton. It was called “You Can Have Him, Jolene,” a follow-up to Parton’s 1974 classic “Jolene.”
With another smash performance Tuesday ending with a literal mic drop, Chapel Hart inspired judge Simon Cowell so much he said:
“Things are gonna go very well for Chapel Hart, because we loved you in your very, very first audition, and we love you because you just lit up the room,” Cowell said as the singers held back tears of joy. “Your songs are brilliant. You are amazing performers, and I have a really, really, really good feeling about what’s gonna happen to you.”
On Tuesday, Aug. 23, America’s Got Talent continues the live show at the fabulous Pasadena Civic Auditorium, where you can join judges Cowell, Mandell, Sofía Vergara, and Heidi Klum, with host Terry Crews, and be part of the star-studded audience as you watch the country’s best performers and cheer on your favorites as they compete for the $1 million prize.
It’s a family-friendly event, and the minimum age to attend is eight.
The Civic Auditorium allows two staggered arrival times each day for ticket distribution to reduce crowding. You can choose one and get your ticket through https://on-camera-audiences.com/shows/Americas_Got_Talent#.
