Few Altadena businesses embody the town’s resilience quite like Nancy’s Greek Café. A neighborhood fixture for 15 years, the family-run restaurant on East Altadena Drive was hit hard by the Eaton Fire, then fought its way back — reopening its doors and, in recent weeks, welcoming diners again for lamb gyros, moussaka and house-made baklava. On Thursday, July 16, at 6 p.m., the Altadena Dining Club will gather there for dinner, turning a casual meal into a show of community support.
The café built its reputation on authentic, made-to-order Greek cooking: slow-roasted leg of lamb, stuffed grape leaves, Greek salads and dishes prepared fresh from lean meats and vegetables. The restaurant describes itself as “a proud part of the Altadena community for 15 years,” a bond that deepened as neighbors rallied to help it recover.
The dinner is part of a broader wave of grassroots support for Altadena’s small businesses as they rebuild after the January 2025 fire. Gathering a group at a single restaurant, organizers hope, offers both fellowship and a tangible lift for a local establishment still finding its footing.
