The Pasadena Art Alliance, a group that fosters an appreciation for contemporary visual arts by supporting artists, exhibitions, educational programs, and art-oriented, nonprofit institutions, has launched its 2020 Pasadena Art Alliance biannual art auction fundraiser.

The online auction includes more than 90 extraordinary works of contemporary art, including paintings, drawings, works on paper, mixed media, ceramics, and textiles.

The auction will open for bidding at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, according to an announcement by the Art Alliance’s 2020 Bidding Committee. Bidding ends at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3.

This year, the Art Alliance awarded 30 grants to nonprofit arts organizations in the greater Los Angeles area. Their works are now available for preview until the opening of bidding.

Once the auction closes on Oct. 3, winning bidders will be notified. Winners are advised to make sure payment is made when they receive an invoice via email.

Arrangements for local pick up, at no fee, or shipment of the art for an additional fee, must be made within 14 days of the closing of the auction. All sales will be final.

The Pasadena Art Alliance started in 1955 when the group initially organized to support the renowned Pasadena Art Museum. After Norton Simon purchased the museum in 1974, the group obtained its own 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and became independent the next year in terms of support and affiliations.

Today, the Pasadena Art Alliance is an “ever inventive and dynamic organization of over 175 women who share a deep belief in the increasingly diverse and important art of our time,” according to a statement on the Alliance’s website.
