ArtCenter College of Design alumni will gather July 19 for a special event exploring how creative careers evolve in unexpected ways.
The FullCircle gathering will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. at KID Group Studio in San Francisco. Host Dan Klitsner, a 1982 ArtCenter product design graduate and FullCircle board member, will welcome attendees to his studio.
The evening will feature a conversation with design pioneer, ArtCenter alumnus and former trustee Clement Mok. He will discuss how creative careers can pivot and transform over time.
Mok began his career in the 1980s at CBS and Donovan & Green in New York. He joined Apple’s Macintosh design team in late 1982, working directly with Steve Jobs. As creative director at Apple, he focused on making computers friendlier and more accessible to users.
Since leaving Apple, Mok has founded multiple design businesses. His companies include Studio Archetype, CMCD and NetObjects. He helped pioneer what is now known as experience design, information design and interaction design.
The designer has received numerous awards for his contributions to the field. He earned the 2008 AIGA Medal and the 2023 National Design Award.
Mok currently mentors startups and serves on advisory boards for technology companies and colleges. Beyond design, he has worked as a software publisher, developer, author and restaurateur. He holds design patents and continues to advocate for design and technology practices.
