Emmy-winning creator Noah Hawley will visit ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena next month for a screening and discussion of his hit science fiction series “Alien: Earth.”
The Dec. 3 event features Episode 5 of the FX series. Time Magazine called it “a remarkable achievement.”
Hawley wrote and directed the self-contained episode. He will discuss his creative process after the screening and take questions from the audience.
The series premiered on Hulu and FX in August. It was recently renewed for a second season.
Set in 2120, “Alien: Earth” follows the crash-landing of a deep space research vessel. A group of tactical soldiers and a mysterious woman named “Wendy” discover terrifying life forms.
The show stars Sydney Chandler and Timothy Olyphant. It features an international cast including Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin and Essie Davis.
In the series, Earth is controlled by five corporations. Humans coexist with cyborgs and synthetics. The story centers on a technological breakthrough: humanoid robots infused with human consciousness.
The evening will showcase exclusive artwork by Kyle Hawley, an ArtCenter alumna. She co-founded 26 Keys Productions with Noah Hawley. Her letterpress design studio is based in Austin, Texas.
The screening begins at 7 p.m. in Ahmanson Theater on ArtCenter’s Hillside Campus at 1700 Lida Street. Admission is free with RSVP. Seating is first come, first served.
ArtCenter was founded in 1930. It is the first design school to receive United Nations NGO status.
All episodes of “Alien: Earth” now stream on FX and Hulu. Ridley Scott serves as an executive producer.
