“Deepen your connection to nature and plants through learning how to make botanical drawings,” the workshop description promises.
“We will work with real plant and flower specimens and learn ways to really ‘see’ the forms through observation exercises, studies of positive and negative space, line work and value.”
The $30 workshop, sponsored by Remainders Creative Reuse, a nonprofit arts and crafts thrift store and creative space, welcomes participants age 14 and up.
The session will be held in the Remainders Creative Space, located upstairs via exterior east-side stairs at 787 E. Washington Blvd. in Pasadena.
Robinson’s workshop will feature observational drawing exercises, studies of positive and negative space, line work, value techniques, and a brief discussion of specimen anatomy and ecology.
All materials—including pencils, paper, and plant specimens—will be provided, though participants may bring their own materials if they prefer.
Botanical Drawing will run on Friday, Aug. 15, at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Remainders Creative Space, 787 E. Washington Blvd., in Pasadena. For more call 626-529-5014 or visit https://remainderspas.org/shop-classes/p/botanical-drawing-ys3gg-sp3kj-wgl5j. Tickets: $30
