The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (ABVM) School in Pasadena is celebrating its 70th Anniversary this year with a series of events, including an Alumni Mass and Breakfast on Sunday, Aug. 14, at 9 a.m.

The school is also in the process of forming an Alumni Anniversary Committee, which will include alumni or parents of alumni, to help plan the events for the 2022-2023 school year.

“The school is proud to announce it will be celebrating its 70th Anniversary of providing a well-rounded faith-based education that meets the needs of all its diverse learners,” an ABVM School statement said. “Through the support of our community, ABVM has taken pride in providing students with a well-rounded faith-based education that continues to give them the foundation needed to lead successful lives and careers.”

Founded in 1952, ABVM School continues to be a family-oriented community that works collectively with its parishioners to provide “a Christ-centered environment that encourages students’ spiritual development, offers them the opportunity to excel in academics, and fosters the development of character and a sense of community responsibility.”

The school serves Grades TK-8, offering a rich curriculum, early literacy instructional strategies, art, Music and Choir, P.E., Spanish, Advanced Math and technology in the classrooms, as well as extracurricular sports and after-school enrichment activities.

The school also offers a Reading Specialist and an Academic Counselor who provides individualized support for students with specific needs.

After the Alumni Mass and Breakfast on Aug. 14, the school is holding a 70th Spooktacular Ball, a fundraiser and auction gala, on Oct. 29 for adult members of the school community. On April 29, 2023, ABVM School will host a Family Fun Night as a culminating event.

“Please help us make this 70th Anniversary celebration one to remember! Please join us for our events,” the statement said. “Reconnect with old friends, we would love to see you!”
